Receigen App Reviews

40 Customer Reviews:

Excellent app, works just as advertised. In two steps you have receipt validation for MAS. Just enter the bundle id and version to generate a header for your project, then change one line in main.m and youre done. Theres also extensive documentation on the developers website on every aspect ranging from validation to answering the crypto questions on the app store.

Awesomely practical. Saved me loads of time and troubles.

This is a must-have if you need to do any kind of receipt validation. Takes care of so much tedious and troublesome work for you. Worth every penny.

Saved me all kinds of time by sparing me from having to deal with tedious low-level receipt verification code. All of the generated code passed every verification my users threw at it, allowing me to get my app to market faster and with confidence. Highly recommended for any Mac developer, expecially those using the App Store!!

I wouldn’t think of putting out something on the App Store without receipt validation and Receigen makes it so easy. This is a must-have for any OS X or iOS developer.

A little pricy - but worth it!

Great support. I noticed an error in the documentation and it was corrected soon after I informed the developer. Keep up the good work.

Handling receipt validation used to be my 2nd least favorite thing to do when updating one of my mac apps (right behind provisioning files). But now this makes it incredibly simple to do! Can’t recommend this enough for peace of mind and ease of use.

I love this app, the idea and how it works. I was writing my receipt validation code on my own so far, and now using Receigen is much better (though I kept my own code too, never too safe!). I like that it integrates seamlessly into the building flow of Xcode, that’s really convenient. One thing though, it’s quite confusing to understand that you need to have one Receigen call per validation check, and cannot call the macro twice (I wanted to put several checks accross my code, so I had to generate as many times as I have checks the code). That works fine now :) just a little confusing. Great work!

Great app!

This gets ★★★★★ from me. It’s simple to use and is well worth the money.

I hate dealing with receipts, I think the code is a pain in the butt and it’s not the kind of code I’m interested in or adept at! When I was about to release the latest update to one of my apps, I decided to search and see if there were any new suggestions for building my receipt checking code and I found this app. LOVE. IT. It was painless to use and integrate. Their website had walkthroughs for everything. I had one weirdness where the App Store was giving me the wrong version number during testing, but a quick email to the Developer who responded right away and the issue was cleared up (not a problem with the app, just the App Store caching a version number). Highly, highly recommended for all devs.

I am sure that this tool did a much better job than I would have done if I had to write the receipt checking/validation code by hand. Perfect execution of a great idea. The documentation and the sample code are also really well done.

If you’re a developer and need to do receipt validation within your application, this is the app your’re looking for: - Easy to use and hides all the obscure details of receipt validation for you. - Can be easily integrated on Xcode to make sure the generated code is up-to-date and matches your current app’s version. - The documentation is superb. All the details you need to get receipt validation working in no time can be found in the app’s website. One of the reasons I downloaded this app was the support for receipt validation of direct sales, which means that users who previously downloaded a MAS version of your app can download a non-MAS version and use it without having to acquire a new license for it, provided that the mechanism for direct sale receipt validation is in place. Couldn’t be happier with it and the price is just right for all it does and how it does it.

Awesome

This guy is simply awesome. Responds to my lame emails about OpenSSL updates ;)

AWESOME!!! - I love it and it’s simple to use!

Absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it. This app is totally worth the price for its simplicity and efficiency to code sign and validate an app.

This app is a huge time-saver and works great, except on Snow Leopard. SL support has been broken for over a year now, and the developer doesn’t seem inclined to fix it despite providing him with a workaround. This has lost me a bunch of customers and caused a lot of unnecessary aggravation. Customers downloading your app with the validation code included will see the dreaded “damaged app” warning, with a note to redownload from the App Store. This doesn’t work, and customers will email and complain. The problem is not the app package itself, but the broken validation. Please fix!

I have been using Receigen for a couple of years. It is absolutely the best solution for secure receipt validation. Laurent is a genius and we should all be grateful for his awesome contribution to the development community. I don’t know what I would do without it. Cheers!

I thought receipt validation would be too complex, so I skipped it in v1.0 of my app. After seeing a bunch of piracy I bought Receigen and used it for our next release. So far, it hasnt been cracked. I waited to leave this review to ensure it didnt cause any issues, and so far after 2 updates, its been great. Great app, and actually has saved us money (as our app uses a premium data provider that charges us). Thank you!

Doing receipt validation correctly is a major pain, but Receigen makes this task really easy and gives all the bells you need like obfuscation etc. I highly recommend the program.

MrMurfMan · 11 years ago

Starting with Xcode 7 Apple has removed openssl. This caused Receigen to stop working. You can get your project to build by replacing all 222 instances of #import <openssl/headername> with #import “header name” to use the supplied headers. The problem is that the resulting app won’t work. It will fail to correctly verify the valid receipt added by the App Store, exiting with error 173. The proceedure at the Receigen site for testing receipt validation also doesn’t work. The developer doesn’t respond to E-mail requests for help. Untill this is fixed Don’t buy this App. This is a shame because this was such a huge time saver for developers.

The application has not been updated for a long time, and the negative review below further increased my doubt whether I should buy this incredibly useful tool. But yesterday I did anyway, because I realized that that negative review is actually the result of a user error. And indeed it is. The tool works just fine on Xcode 7.1 on El Capitan. There’s no need to replace any imports at all. Just configure your project right regarding the include files. I would have given it 5 stars if it had not been for the lack of updates. I obviously wouldn’t be too happy if, say, 4.0 comes out tomorrow, but then again I believe it would be wise for the developer to continue to add more obfuscation to the output, as well as finding a way to obfuscate the openssl source itself.

I didn’t want to roll my own solution for receipt validation, so this looked tempting. I’m relying on it to grandfather features to users that previously bought my app. 2.0, 2.0.1, and 2.0.2 of my app all have shipped with failing receipt validation, each with a frantic 7-day turnaround to resubmit and see it fail again. Everything looks good, and the developer is stumped on why it’s failing. For such a mission critical app the developer is very slow to respond. Trying to be helpful, but a 4-day turnaround when I have customers emailing me that they think they have to pay again for features is terrible.
